My Story
I’ve always loved art. I started when I was around 15, and back then it was really just something I did for fun. It was also an escape for me. I never really thought about where it could take me I just genuinely loved creating.
I started posting my art on Instagram, putting my stickers all over NYC, and eventually got into a couple of my first art shows. Then COVID happened, TikTok started blowing up, and I decided to post my art on there.
My first video went viral and got over 1 million views.
All of a sudden I had so many people wanting my work. I was getting orders for my hoodies and artwork, and I remember spending hours making and embroidering hoodies myself just trying to fulfill everything. I went viral a few more times after that, and somehow this thing I started as an escape became an actual career.
But after doing it for years, I slowly started losing the passion I once had for painting. It started feeling repetitive. I had really bad art block, and eventually I just stopped everything. I walked away from art completely for about a year.
Eventually, I started my clothing brand Dead or Alive, which actually came from my old skeleton artwork. The meaning behind it was being alive physically, but dead emotionally.
Then I started Splitoons.
And without even realizing it at first, Splitoons brought me back to art.
It brought back that feeling I had when I was 15 and creating just because I loved it. I was able to take the artwork and skills I spent six years building and give them a completely new life.
I realized I never really stopped being an artist.
I just found a new canvas.
